FIND ANOTHER SPOT

Monday, August 29th, 2016

I will often start off my yoga classes by asking my students to ‘find another spot.’  Yoga means freedom to me in      so many ways. One way is to reinforce to my students that yoga can be practiced anywhere SO why not photo 1

start within the yoga room and Find another spot!   If students need to retain their coveted spot inside a room, their yoga perspective is narrowed.  I like to experience the environment around me by hiking, taking an afternoon off to the beach or even waiting in line at the store. Why not bring yoga into your life in all areas, wherever you are is a new opportunity to experience the freedom yoga inspires.IMG_0974

We can learn about ourselves while we break down the walls of our practice.

A bolder, a fence, the soft sand at the beach to root your hands and feet. Students can discover that props are all around them. Balance poses may be inspired while gazing at the vast horizon.

The next time you go for a walk, a hike, or vacation, find a spot, a rock, a tree  a sandy beach, and do your favorite asana that fits into endless possibilities of the space around you.

So the next time you step into your  yoga class  purposely find another spot.  Translate that into the freedom yoga offers you.

And your world will be your yoga oyster.
