Food for the soul

I found yoga somewhat late in life….in my early 40’s.  I had no idea how much my body needed it or would benefit from it.  I couldn’t even touch my toes while standing!   I have much more body awareness than I thought possible and strength that I wouldn’t be able to attain by any other means.  It’s a deeper, layered strength and continues to improve with my practice.  Pranayama has been an eye opening experience too.  We all breathe without notice, but when you call attention to it, there’s much more breath to be had and your body responds to the breath as though it’s been waiting your whole life for it!  If I go without yoga for any length of time, my body craves it like food.  I’ve come to think of it that way, it’s like food for body/mind/soul.  I just wish I had started yoga while my body was younger, but it’s never to late to help your body be the best it can be, and what nature intended!  I’m eternally grateful for my yoga practice and can’t imagine being without it!
